What to collect in today’s Market.

Both life-long and new collectors have been asking the question, with today’s economy, “What should I be considering when adding to my collection?” Mendy’s has some common sense thoughts on that.

1 – Understand the impacts of the down economy on your collection and your collecting habits. Most memorabilia collections are created from “disposable” income which is now very limited or used for other things. Thus, you may need to accept that acquiring that expensive sought after item will need to wait a while longer.

2 – Diversify your collection. Rather than seek that one all-star player autograph at a high price, collect instead other less expensive items of that player, or other players that make great additions to your collection, but cheaper.

3 – Start closer to home. Rather than conduct a long search for difficult items, spend some time to focus on your local teams, obtain memorabilia of all types to fill out the collection.

4 – Shop, shop, shop, but buyers beware! Do your homework and research before buying. Evaluate the dealer and the deal. Remember if the deal is too good to be true, it usually is. Disreputable deals are a part of this business and are always out there, in good times as well as bad.

Just some common sense ideas.

Happy New Year! And some resolutions…

Happy New Year!

Let’s leave 2008 where it belongs, behind us, and look forward with high expectations to 2009! In support of our customers this year, we at Mendy’s hereby resolve to:

1 – Continue to bring you “The Best Pieces of The Game!” To that end, we resolve to add twice as many items to our website as we have currently and keep these items in stock. And only the best quality items will be added.

2 – Continue our drive to bring you the best prices possible on all items. To that end, we will strive for the best deals out there, but at all times maintaining our 100% authentic guarantee. We will not deal with items that we believe are overpriced, overhyped, or overproduced. As always, we will not consider anything fraudulent or disreputable.

3 – Continue to explore and utilize the electronic marketplace as much as possible. In the time of rapid technology advancements, it is very important to develop and improve the baseball collectible marketplace, as well as maintain the current established business practices. Simply put, a good website and a responsible collectable show presence are equally important.

4 – Communicate necessary collector knowledge about baseball collectables so everyone shares in the information. This will enhance the collectability of your items. This includes the display, protection, and storage of your items.

We will work on these resolutions for you and let you know how we are doing. We ask that you resolve to subscribe to this blog and give us your feedback.

Happy New Year!
